Thirsty Thursday: Lovers’ Quorum, A One Minute Play

Here is the script for Lovers’ Quorum , a one minute play first produced in 2006 as part of the Got A Minute? breast cancer fundraiser in Sarasota, Florida.

m1

Boy loves girl

f1
who loves girl

f2
who loves girl back

f1
so you would think boy

f2
would get the clue and go

m1
but he doesn’t. He loves Her!
Do you know what that means?  It means anything

f2
and he means anything

f1
anything at all

m1
could stand in my way and I wouldn’t care.  It’s love!

f1
But I don’t love you back.

m1
I don’t care!

f2
She loves me.

m1
I know.  I don’t care!  I will love you always.
And nothing you can say will change that.
To my grave, to the ends of my follicles even,
after the fingernails stop growing in my coffin,
I will still love you.

f2
Charming. I can see why you like him.

f1
I don’t like him!

m1
I know.

f2
I know a nice boy who might want to meet you…

m1
No! I won’t love him.
I won’t love another woman
I won’t love anyone else.
I love her, and I always will.

f1
If you always love me,
and I never love you:
who will love you?

m1
What?

f1
Who will love you?
Will you go your whole life unloved,
just for your love for me?

f2
Yup! He’ll be alone and unloved forever.

m1
I hate you both.  (exits)

f2
Love it!
